Definitions:
Sport - a physical activity involving individuals or teams competing against each other in compliance to established sets of rules.
Society - an organized group of persons living in a particular region due to economic, political, religious , or other purposes
These definitions have a very important meaning when it comes to blending amateur and professional athletics. What does sport mean in your life? How has it impacted it as an athlete? As an observer? How will it impact your life later on, when you have moved on and are finished as an athlete? These questions will be discussed in class.
Do you view sport, do you view it as a local organization, like your high school teams or perhaps your club team within the city? Or do you view it at a professional level? Perhaps an international level such as the Olympics?
